I never would have dreamed that after all these years I would have my own website with blogs, publications, short stories and other interesting events that have happened in my life. It's a very humbling experience to think that people would be interested. I feel like I'm just a Joe Blow ordinary person — but here I am, in 2018, a successfully published author, mother of three, grandmother of two and having had several careers. One was being a registered nurse for twenty years, radio show host and producer of the award-winning Boker Tov radio show for fifteen years, and producer of the award-winning Reaching for the Stars radio show for nearly twenty. I was also an ENG writer for the local TV Cogeco for three years. It is amazing to me that I actually did that and on location even!
So, here's my problem with trying to write this initial blog post: I have many interests that range from nature to politics to history to writing, travelling, my children and grandchildren, practicing my Jewish faith, living in my Jewish culture and enjoying hundreds of friends...So how does one even begin to decipher one's life and then write about all of these earth-shattering moments you experienced? And for what purpose? I mean, outside of family reading this who really cares? But, then I think about all of the souls who write to me after a short story is published in sayyyy a Chicken Soup for the Soul book and I realize that some of my experiences are something every human being experiences and that perhaps what I say just might help someone else get over events happening in their lives.
And I guess that's what we're going to explore as I continue to write blogs.
One section will be already published short stories of mine and excerpts from stories that I'm working on. In another section I will write about the travels that William and I have taken and are going to take (with pictures!). And right now I'm feeling like Dory the fish — "Oh look there's a flower! Oh look it's raining!"
We're going to have fun. But, hopefully, you'll also get to know me and learn about my culture and heritage and history. And hopefully appreciate my work as a writer.
